Good relationships don't happen overnight, they take commitment, prayer, and most of all, effort.

Though the need for human connections is innate, the ability to form healthy, loving, relationships, is learned. Acquiring the skills to make a connection last is hard work, and unfortunately many women neglect that fact and expect perfection as a standard. Maintaining a strong relationship with your spouse requires constant care and communication.
Though the institution of marriage is being attacked by the devil, many do not prioritize learning how to develop healthy relationships with their spouses. In fact women have a myth that they're to be loved, cherished, prioritized, respected, sought after, and served; which is absolutely right, but this expectation is mostly placed on the men and not on ourselves. We are as obligated to our husbands to do exactly what we expect of them.
April Relationship Goal - Love Thy Spouse
How healthy is your relationship with your spouse? Are there things you wished would be better? If so, YOU begin the growth/renewal process. You see, everything we give the universe is reciprocated. If we give genuine love, we get love, if we give hate, we get hate in return. The problem is, most times the timing is not in sync with our expectations so we give up early or misinterpret the signs. So what are some signs of a strong relationship?
You value your partner- how much has knowing your partner made you a better person? how much do you see your partner as a way to expand your own capabilities? Are you grateful for him?
You openly provide and receive affection- affection is an integral part of building bonds. A relationship that is starved of affection will drift apart. Be the change you want to see.
You engage in honest discussions- communication is key and it increases our knowledge and awareness of our partner's needs, desires, and weaknesses. If you're not honest about these things, intimacy will remain on the surface.
How can we build healthy relationships with our spouses? Below are ways you can build healthier relationship with your spouse and begin to experience a full life. If you're single, you have a head start to learn valuable skills to prepare you for your mate.
Understand what makes your partner feel loved - love him the way he wants to be loved not what or how you think is right. Knowing this gives you some power because you will always know how to keep the romance flame burning.
Love him unconditionally- What does this mean? You do not change the way you love him based on his actions. This is the most difficult because we women are emotional beings and our actions are tied to the way we feel, which means, if we do not feel good about you, we will treat you like crap. Loving anyone at their worse is the most powerful gift anyone can give. This is the love Christ gives us daily.
Put him first - This shouldn't be hard because it is women's nature to put other's first. However, we sometimes prioritize our children over our husbands. Understand that if you and your husband do not have a healthy and strong relationship, your children will suffer from the dysfunction. Put him first and the home will stay in tact.
Invest in your relationship - take trips, buy books that increase your knowledge, go to dinner, shows, buy each other gifts etc,.
Touch as often as possible- physical touch creates bonds. Hug, kiss, hold hands etc,.
Heat up the intimate moments - Be bold, make the first moves, be seductive, upgrade your lingeries.
Appreciate him - the silent weapon to a man's joy is appreciating him, no it's not his stomach, and we begin by saying "thank you".
Every relationship isn't perfect but every relationship can be improved upon. This month be intentional in doing one or more of the above steps and see a change in how your relationship with your spouse improves.
