It's that time of the year again when we get to look ourselves in the mirror and be proud of our accomplishments this year, or look in regrets and disappointments for not doing what we said we would do. Don't be hard on yourself, remember when you walk, sometimes you fall.
Let's be honest, this year blew us off our feet, and very few were able to gain some form of balance. You are not alone in not being able to complete all you wrote down to do in 2020, I have a list that either didn't get touched, or didn't get completed. Ok big deal you're feeling bumped, it's normal. It's a wake up call to how easily we lost time with no measurable progress. At least you are conscious of your progress and your shortcomings, it's called growth.
So now that you know you weren't discipline enough this year, what will you do about the ugly feeling of not accomplishing your goals this year? Will you continue to beat yourself up, or will you strategize what next steps to take? Remember it doesn't matter how many times you fall, it's how many times you can get up and learn from the previous experience. Few things to consider when developing your next steps.......

Recollect yourself and your goals - if you purchased my 2020 planner and wrote down your goals for the year, go through the planner again and take note of all the goals and action steps that were not taken. It will give you an awful feeling but it will help you be more intentional in 2021. If you didn't use the 2020 planner, consider the things you planned to do this year and write down all you wanted to do but didn't do. Ask yourself the following questions to understand where you stand with these goals:
- Why didn't I complete these goals?
- what could I have done to accomplish these goals?
- Were these goals specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-based?
- Are these goals still important to me?
- What can I do differently that would lead to me accomplishing these goal?
Develop a new plan and transfer your goals to 2021 - transfer your goals with intentions. The advantage of having unmet goals is that you can see how possible it was to have completed those goals, and where you went wrong. Those things you didn't do this year, will hold you accountable for next year. You're at a better place because you wrote your goals down, and that will help you plan better next year than those who may not have written their goals down. They may not have a full vision of what could have been done in 2020 that can be done next year. Remember it's not how many times you fall, but how many time you can pick yourself up and give another try.
If you have not purchased your 2021 planner yet, follow this link to order yours now. It will hold you accountable, boost your productivity, and keep you motivated and intentional as you give the year all you got.
